We were honoured to be asked to perform our Feeva show at the recent YBS National Business Awards Ceremony 2012 as it was this organisation that started us out in business just over 10 years ago.
Sir Charles Dunstone ( Chairman of Princes Trust & Carphone Warehouse) gave an amazing speech which completely inspired us to keep chasing our dreams. You would never believe the struggle, rise & fall of a man in charge of such a huge organisation but it was his belief in what he was doing that has got him where he is today.
Our story has not yet had the same result as Sir Charles but is similar in many ways. We were given £5000.00 business start up loan by YBS. With this money we bought the the most basic equipment required. At the time we were all working full time in office jobs & hating every minute of it because our passion was performing & entertaining.
After a year of struggling we decided to try our luck abroad & before we knew it we had secured a contract for a summer season in Mallorca. One snag, we had to drive all the way there with our own equipment. It was scary but we sold our cars, left our secure jobs & bought a second hand Volkswagen Caravelle. It took us 2 days to get there but within 2 weeks we had secured 13 nights out of 14 for the full season. We lived the dream beach by day & entertaining at night.
In 5 months we made lots of friends & gained 5 years experience. On our return to Scotland agents had some work in place for us but we had to find the rest ourselves. Taking ourselves out the market for 5 months as a new act didn’t do us any favours. We were not entitled to any benefits & had to survive on £75 a week for the next 6 months. Slowly but surely we started to make our mark & our diary started to fill up with Holiday Parks all over the UK. The hardest hurdle for us was to break into the Corporate Market, we found this very difficult to be taken seriously. Persistence, Patience & Pain in the ass are the three P’s that have got us to where we are now. Eventually the people that mattered started to listen just to shut us up & gave us a chance.
We thank everyone who gave us that chance as we are now recognised as one of the UK’s Top Female Acts. Even after all this time we still don’t feel like we have peaked yet and there are other mountains we still want to climb.
Our experience, struggle & mistakes as a professional act have now given us the inspiration to train, mentor & give guidance to young performers wanting to have a career in the Entertainment Industry. Myself, Donna & Laura (Feeva) took the jump together all those years ago & are still going strong. We are now looking forward to the rest of our exciting journey as F3 Entertainments Ltd.
