At the weekend we had the privilege of performing at what could possibly be our best event this year.
On Saturday 10th May, over 370 people gathered together to celebrate the life of Donald Malcolm. All funds that were raised were for the Oral Cancer Unit and Cancer Research UK, and we are delighted to tell you that over £70,000 was raised for a fantastic cause.
As the guests were arriving we knew it was going to be a big night. Everyone was enjoying themselves from the word go, and this was before the drinks were flowing.
With some truly moving speeches from family members and Cancer Research UK representatives, it was time to get the auction underway, with the fantastic Peter Martin as the compere. Having performed at many of the same events that Peter has worked, we knew that we would be in for a laugh when he approached the floor to get the auction started. After a few hilarious one liners and several thousand pounds later, the guest got tucked into their dinner.
Not long after people started to wonder around the room, conversing with colleagues, friends, people they hadn’t seen in a while, and as the night went on the voices got louder. Then a fantastic performance from X-Factor contestant, Nicholas McDonald, and before we know it, showtime for FEEVA!
Like many FEEVA shows we had the dance floor bouncing for 90 minutes, it wasn’t empty for a second. Even during our 4 costume changes! In true FEEVA fashion the guests were treated to some classic Motown with some hits from the 60s, 70s, 80s & 90s.
With this being a special event, we launched 1 of our new sets of costumes, which absolutely felt brilliant! To top it all off, we had the most amazing Horse Box to change in. For those who won’t know, the Malcolms are big horse riding enthusiasts, and provided us with a luxury ‘Meet the Fockers’ style bus for us to prepare for our performances in. Needless to say we want one of these, it would be ideal for travelling to shows in.
To finish off, we would like to say a big thank you to the organisers for inviting us to perform at what was obviously a very special event, close to their hearts. Also, not forgetting the boys from Sound & Vision for looking after us while we were on stage. A fantastic job on the sound, lighting and visuals for the night.
